2025 ELECTION OF PCAA GOVERNING COUNCIL (BOARD)

Council members are elected for a term of three (3) years.  The Council has a maximum of nine (9) members and meets at least quarterly.  At its first meeting the Council will allocate responsibilities and positions accordingly.  This year, three (3) positions are opening up, and three nominations were received prior to the deadline:

Marc Flynn (Y4), Tim Sneek (Y12), Sarah Fletcher (Y24)

Their election will consequently be by acclamation at the AGM on October 18, as per notice of Meeting.  (Acclamation is defined as an overwhelming affirmative vote by cheers or applause rather than by ballot.)

Marc Flynn
Yr 4; Montreal, QC

I am recently retired and would like to contribute further to the PC mission and the PCAA. I represented Quebec/Canada at PC and after some years living in Prague and Washington am presently based in Montreal. I have degrees in economics and business. I worked for 10 years on international development projects in Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia. Then over 20 years in management of an educational institute in the financial services industry in Canada. I have remained engaged with PC on selection committees, attending most reunions including the 50th this summer, which was terrific, and am currently PCAA rep for Y4. I look forward to using my experience to continue to move the PCAA forward as it focuses on mobilizing the talent and commitment of 5,000 alumni and to facilitate connections and action among alumni which is sorely needed in our world today where international cooperation is under attack on so many fronts.

Tim Sneek
Yr 12; The Netherlands

I am a Year 12 (1985-1987) Alumni from Pearson College. Analytical, open-minded, creative, diplomatic and networker by nature. I have a strategic focus and I am results-driven. My professional career was build in and around the Netherlands Armed Forces, both in military and political advisory roles, including executive leadership positions. I have served in military operations and in executive leadership roles in bilateral and multilateral frameworks, like NATO and the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), most recently serving as Co-Chair of various multilateral frameworks for military support to Ukraine. Prior to my current position at the NL Ministry of Defense, I served as the Defense Cooperation Attache for the Netherlands Armed Forces in Washington DC, USA and Chair of the 27 nation Defense Attache MOU Group (DMAG) from 2013-2018. Prior to 2013, I served in different roles, alternating between (military) operational environments and staff positions at the Ministry of Defense.

I get inspired by people, their stories and traveling the world. I love history, music and books. I thrive in a dynamic and complex international environment, focused on global security issues, education and “giving back” to the next generation. I studied Economics and Law, earning my Juris Doctorate (JD) at Utrecht University (NL) and my Masters of Law (LLM) at Emory Law School (Ga, USA). My honors include a Fullbright Scholarship and distinctions from the US Department of Defense.

Sarah Fletcher
Yr 24; Victoria, B.C.

I live and work on the territories of the Lekwungen Speaking Peoples, including the Songhees, Esquimalt and Sc’ianew First Nations. I am a Medical Anthropologist and lead work in Primary Care Transformation in the innovation support unit at UBC. My background spans ethnohistorical research, Human Rights, health policy and community based research in health promotion. I’ve also led research with youth focused on immigration, climate change, social innovation and health systems reform. Prior to my PhD , I had unique stint as a touring musician.

My passion lies in working with communities, facilitating co-design efforts that build team, community, and system resilience. I’m deeply committed to creative problem-solving, improving access to healthcare, and fostering collaboration across different parts of the healthcare system.

Outside of work, I’m often shuttling my two amazing (and very busy) kids around, exploring the Island, or soaking in music, art, and food events.
